Sometimes I get really excited about trailers for an upcoming season of a TV show. That’s usually only for Star Trek series, as it is this time. But I can include some other shows I am a little excited for in this post. So what will we be watching?

Wednesday

Netflix picked out the most up-to-date character from The Addams Family and built a series around her. Wednesday is a student at Nevermore Academy and encounters a lot of supernatural mysteries. Sounds like it might be my kind of thing.

The trailer reminds me of Sabrina the Teenage Witch. That tv series also featured a school and students, with an emphasize on supernatural and occult things. I think that Wednesday may have some more lighthearted moments.

Marvel Studios Secret Invasion

And who is the most fascinating character in the MCU we have missed for years and years? Yes: Nick Fury. Now, we get a series on Disney+ that will show us more of him! I’m interested.

We have watched a lot of MCU tv. We started with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which actually did feature Nick Fury from time to time. He ran S.H.I.E.L.D. after all. We’ve also really enjoyed Loki and WandaVision and are currently watching Legion – which does not have an official tie to the current Marvel stories, of course.

Star Trek: Picard

And the third trailer is the one that literally made me squeek, scream and jump up and down on the sofa (and I am wat past the age that that is remotely acceptable, let me tell you). We knew that old crew of The Next Generation would get together on this last season of Picard. But … we had no clue. We had no clue they would bring back one of our favourite badass baddies! This is going to be awesome and I can’t wait until this comes out next year! When it will hopefully show on SkyShowtime (the European equivalant of Paramount+).

I do acknowledge that a lot of the excitement for me comes from nostalgia. This seems to be the first time an old Star Trek crew gets the send off they deserve. Putting right some offences of the original series, such as completely sidelining the two female characters when it suited the writers. But most of all, to see the cast come together and recreate the chemistry they had is a balm for my soul.

And that’s it. That is my meagre list of things I am looking forward to. But yay for Picard! Yay! Yay! Yay!!!
